Maths Week has been a huge hit in Drumbaragh this year, with plenty of fun, teamwork and problem-solving taking place across the school!
We kicked off the celebrations on Monday by introducing our brand-new Maths Boxes, five for each classroom, filled with equipment to make maths learning even more enjoyable.
The whole school then gathered in the hall for some maths fun! Children were organised into mixed-age groups, with a pupil from each class in every group. It was wonderful to see children of all ages working together, helping one another and enthusiastically tackling the different challenges.
From Snakes and Ladders, PIG and Crazy Eights to matchstick puzzles and tangrams, there was something for everyone. The children were so engaged and enjoyed the activities so much that we decided to keep the games going throughout the week!
In fact, Maths Week has been such a success that some of our pupils have been trying to negotiate an extra day next week to make up for yesterday’s school closure! We think that says it all! 😄
Tomorrow, we’ll round off our celebrations with a whole-school Maths Trail, giving everyone another opportunity to put their mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills to the test.
One of the highlights of the week has been watching the children work so brilliantly together across the different age groups. Their enthusiasm, cooperation and willingness to help one another have been fantastic to see.
Maths Week has reminded us that maths is about so much more than numbers in a book; it’s about thinking, exploring, problem-solving and, most importantly, having fun together! 🌟
