OUR SCHOOL
A small school with a big heart.
Drumbaragh National School is a small, welcoming primary school in the Meath countryside, where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish.
Our size is one of our greatest strengths. It allows us to build strong relationships with our pupils and families and to create a warm, supportive environment where children can grow in confidence, curiosity and independence.

A WELCOME FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Fáilte go Scoil Drumbaragh!
I’m Órna Fox, the principal here, and I’m delighted you’ve found us.
Drumbaragh is a small school, and that’s what makes it special. We know every child by name, and we know their families too. Our classes are small, our teachers are kind and dedicated, and our grounds give children plenty of space to play, explore and simply be children.
We’re a Catholic school, and that shapes how we look after one another – with kindness, respect and a strong sense of belonging. Alongside everyday learning, we love sport, STEM, creativity and plenty of fun along the way.
If you’re thinking about a place for your child, or you’re already part of our school family, please get in touch. I’d love to show you around, put the kettle on and hear about your child.
Go raibh maith agat as cuairt a thabhairt orainn.

WHAT MATTERS TO US
Known. Valued. Inspired.
At Drumbaragh, education is about more than what happens in a textbook. We want our pupils to feel that they belong, to be curious about the world around them and to leave our school believing in what they can achieve.
BELONG
We create a school where children feel safe, supported and part of a close-knit community.
DISCOVER
We encourage curiosity, creativity, questioning and a genuine love of learning.
GROW
We help children develop confidence, independence, resilience and the skills they need for the future.

Drumbaragh National School – serving our community since 1872.
OUR STORY
Part of the community since 1872.
Drumbaragh National School has been at the heart of its local community for more than 150 years. The school was established in 1872 through the vision of local man John Sweetman, who valued education and built a school for the children of those who worked on his land.
More than a century and a half later, part of that original school building still stands today – a wonderful link between the generations of children who have learned at Drumbaragh. While education and school life have changed enormously since 1872, the importance of community and giving children the opportunity to learn and flourish remains at the heart of our school.
In 2022, pupils, families, staff, former teachers and members of the wider community came together to celebrate the school’s 150th anniversary – looking back proudly on its history while also looking forward to the generations still to come.
A PIECE OF IRISH HISTORY
A special flag with a special story.
As part of the school’s 150th anniversary celebrations, Drumbaragh N.S. received an Irish flag that had been flown at the building in Waterford where Thomas Francis Meagher first flew the Irish Tricolour in 1848. The flag and its certificate were presented to the school as part of the anniversary celebrations.
